Stepping up and taking action is never easy. You’re always faced with your inner demons that try to hold you back. For the committed entrepreneur you wrestle them until you win and move through.
Today I held a webinar which wasn’t as widely advertised as it should have been due to my own limiting beliefs. What shocked me thoughm was what I had to deal with afterwards.
The minute I set the phone down questions like ‘Did people think I was an idiot? Was I good enough? What if it turns people away?’ Started plaguing me to distraction.
I mean if a friend turned around and started doing this to you – would you stay their friend?? NO! Would you run away?? YES!
But how do you hang up the phone on your own subconscious? How do you stop yourself from listening to this rubbish and not throw out the work you’ve done?
Firstly, you can not be in agreement with it or indulge yourself in the thoughts. You can instead focus on what you did right.
Secondly, getting out and having some fresh air thinking about something else is a good way to calm yourself down. Then get focused on your next tasks and get stuck into the ‘doing’. If people aren’t going to like you, and if this is going to be deemed a failure, at least you got out there and did something in the first place!
Getting out and doing is never a failure! If you persist at something you’ll never fail. It all simply depends on you and when you decide to call it quits. People who fail are actually those who give up too soon.
Thirdly, if you think it’s really bad, turn to a trusted expert and get some advice. People prefer to give constructive advice to someone who is doing and will use the feedback, rather than someone who is sat on their butt saying ‘maybe I’ll do it’ or ‘what if…’
Be your own best friend and keep going!! To your success…
